This is the first step in the process of becoming a Grotto Guide. You must complete this self-study course before arriving at the Grotto for your on-site orientation.
If you are like most of our Guides, you can complete this course in an hour or less. Nevertheless, if you are doing this course over the Internet, you should bookmark this page so that, should you need to come back to it (either for future reference, or to complete the course), you can do so.
Before You Start…
…you will want to make sure you have everything you need to complete this on-line program (it isn’t much).
You will need a desktop or laptop computer, a web browser and either an Internet connection or the CD-ROM version of this program. (Okay, if you are reading this, you have obviously met this first requirement.)
You will need to have a reasonably current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, so that you can print out and complete the homework assignment. The odds are overwhelming that you already do; nevertheless, you can download the latest version free of charge from Adobe’s website.
To print out the homework assignment, you will need a printer. Almost anything than can printer on normal, letter-size paper will do here.
Finally, you will need to have JavaScript enabled in your we browser. This is the default setting for nearly every web browser. To not have this enabled, you would either have had to have turned it off intentionally, or your corporate IT department did it for you (with or without your knowledge).
This program uses JavaScript to open and close web browser windows (and that’s all). On Windows, you may get a dialog box warning you about the perils of using Active-X. These are the same people who warned you that rock and roll would lead to moral decay and world communism. Deal with it.
