Become a Grotto Guide

If you are certified Divemaster, Assistant Instructor or Instructor, you can become a qualified 40 Fathom Grotto Guide. Grotto Guides are an elite corps that includes some of diving’s most widely recognized educators. Grotto Guide benefits include:

• The ability to use the Grotto for training or guided dives that fall within the scope of your teaching or supervisory status, and insurance warranties.
• Free admission when teaching or guiding at least one paying diver.
• Special wholesale pricing on diver admissions, gas fills and rentals.

What is Involved?

The Grotto Guide orientation process involves:

• On-Line Self Study: With our convenient and enjoyable on-line training course, you’ll quickly master all of the “need to know” information every Grotto Guide must have. The best part? You can start right now.
• On-Site Academic Review and Topside Orientation: Here you and our staff will review the homework assignment you completed as part of your self-study course. We’ll show you things about the property you may not be aware of and discuss the best strategies for conducting a variety of classes and activities at the Grotto.
• Grotto Guide Orientation Dive: If you’ve not dived the Grotto in the past two years, We’ll take you on a guided dive where you will discover all of the great places you can take your students and divers.

How Much Does it Cost?

That depends on a couple of factors. For example:

• If you are already familiar with the Grotto, or are going to be coming with a group as a student or assistant, then you won’t need to make an orientation dive (although you will need to get your group leader or another Grotto Guide to sign off on your familiarity with the Grotto). In this case, you will just pay for the Academic Review/Topside Orientation and Grotto Guide registration ($39.95).
• If you are not coming with a group, and have not dived the Grotto in the past two years, we have a special package that includes:
  • Grotto Admission ($49.95).
  • Use of the on-line orientation cours, your On-Site Academic Review/Topside Orientation and Grotto Guide registration ($39.95).
  • Your Grotto Guide Orientation Dive ($39.95).
  
  Separately, these items are $129.85. The package price, however, is just $99.95.

We also have a $79.95 package available for prospective Guides who are coming to the Grotto for the first time, but bringing paying students or divers with them.

As soon as you submit the required data, you’ll be taken to a confirmation page with links to our on-line Guide Orientation course. This will let you get started on the important self-study portion of the program right away.
