Dealing With Depth
and Other Factors

Wall Diver

By normal recreational standards, almost any dive at the Grotto must be considered a deep dive. The top of the debris cone begins in nearly 30 m/100 ft of water — although divers will find wrecks, artifacts and training platforms to see and explore at shallower depths, and — providing your buoyancy-control skills are up to speed — you can always explore sites along the walls at much shallower depths.

The combined factors of depth, visibility and overhanging walls would normally limit access to the Grotto to just a handful of highly qualified divers. Fortunately, we have procedures in place that enable divers of every training and experience level to experience the Grotto by becoming or diving with a qualified Grotto Guide.

You can learn more about these in the Diving the Grotto section.
